| Miramar
Address: 118-130 Nathan Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Description:
When it opened in 1948, the Miramar was owned by the Spanish Catholic Mission, which intended to use the structure to shelter missionaries expelled from China. As tourism blossomed here, the priests changed their plan and turned the premises into a hotel. The Miramar has a vast lobby with a dramatic stained-glass ceiling, functional rooms, and smiling service. Rooms are spacious but need some redecorating; moreover, noise from adjoining rooms and the commotion from busy Nathan Road just outside can be a problem. But you're close to both the Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations, and this is quite possibly one of the best values in the area.
